The card shows signs normal of wear. Hermann was a soldier in a Grenadier Regiment and died during heavy combat in the area of Staro Panowo (Russia). According to the Volksbund he died on the 4th instead of the 5th. He is burried on the war cemetery of Sologubowka. The notice is addressed to a Matroos-Gefreiten Albert Schmidtke (a friend?) who, according to Feldpostnummer M52294, served in U-Boot 393.
