The Wehrpass shows overall normal signs of wear. Its solid and complete with all pages and portrait. It belonged to Karl Lenz who was served in the 15. (Ersatz Infanterie Geschütz) Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 2 on the 4th of September 1939. From November 1939 Karl served with Infanterie Regiment 162 and saw combat during the invasion of Holland and then Belgium and France. For the next 3 years Karl served with Infanterie Regiment 685 as part of the 336.Infanterie-Division. In December 1943 he was a soldier with the Infanterie Panzerjäger Ersatz und Ausbildungs Kompanie 14. He served this unit little over 6 months before ending up in the 14.Kompanie Grenadier Regiment 122.
According to his Wehrpass Karl was skilled to operate the Gewehr 98k, Stielhandgranate 24, Gasmask 38, Pak 3,7cm,5cm,7,5cm and the MG42. He was also trained as a Fernsprecher(?) and Panzerjäger (Geschützführer).
He was awarded the Kraftfahrbewährungsabzeichen in Bronze and the Eisernes Kreuz 2.Klasse. His rank in June 1944 was Unteroffizier. Karl was wounded on the 16.10.1943 during combat in Russia. He had Grenade splinters in shoulder and left arm. Karl died on the 15.7.1944.
There is an interesting 'Gefechtskalender' on pages 32,33 and 47 which shows which battles he participated. Holland,Belgium,France and Russia.
The Wehrpass comes with a letter written by the Wehrmeldeamt Sensburg to the father of Karl.
