Nice Eisernes Kreuz 2.Klasse award document in used condition.
The document shows overall signs of wear. Folded twice. The medal was awarded to Unteroffizier Willi Strunk on the 28th of March 1945. Willi served in the 4.Kompanie Grenadier Regiment 104 at that time which was part of the 47.Infanterie-Divsion. It was formed in Boulogne, France in Febraury 1944 and used as coastal (Küstenschütz) between Calais and Boulogne. In August the 47.Infanterie-Division and her units became part of the 5.Panzerarmee and fought against the Allies during the Normandy Campaign. The division was however pushed back to Mons, encircled and destroyed.
A new 47.Volks-Grenadier-Division was formed in Denmark in September 1944 from new units and remnants of the old division. In November it was transported to Germany and fought in the area of Aachen.
