Gren.Rgt.282 EKII award document

The overall condition of the document is good. It has been folded once. The EKII was awarded on the 26th of Februari 1944 to Obergefreiten Alfred Dietel who served in the (III.Btl) 13 Kompanie of Grenadier Regiment 282. This regiment was part of the 98.Infanterie-Division. The regiment started of as Infanterie Regiment 282 and was renamed in October 1943 to Grenadier Regiment. In this year the regiment was stationed in central Russia 180km south/west from Moskau. In the summer of this year it fought heavy defensive battles against the Russians. The III.bataillon was re-formed in February 1943 by the II.bataillon 289. In May 1944 the regiment fought in the Krim and Sewastopol, where it got destroyed. In June 1944 it was rebuild again in Agram (Croatia) and it surrendered in Italy. 
The document was signed by Generalmajor Alfred Reinhardt wearer of the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold and Ritterkreuz des Eisernes Kreuz with Oak Leaves and Swords.
