Nice worn Genesendenkompanie Werfer Ersatz Abteilung 11 related tag in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. The abteilung was formed in March 1942 in Munsterlagen. In July 1942 it was part of Artillerie Ersatz Regiment 22 and in October 1942 the abteilung was devided into and ersatz and an ausbildungs abteilung. In April both abteilungs where combined and became the Werfer Ersatz und Ausbildungs Abteilung 11.
In September 1944 the unit was renamed into Werfer Einsatz Abteilung 11 and became part of Division 180. The Division moved to the Netherlands and was put into action during Operation Market Garden. It was part of the 1.Fallschirm-Armee. In January 1945 the werfer unit was renamed into Schwere Werfer Abteilung 11 and was still part of the 1.Fallschirm-Armee. It saw action in the Reichwald and Wesel area.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype. On the back of the tag the soldier carved in his POWnr.
