Very nice zinc Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. it belonged to a soldier who was draften in the Genesendenkompanie Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 194. This bataillon was formed in September 1939 in Braunschweig. It trained and supplied soldiers for Infanterie Regiment 194 and was part of the 71.Infanterie-Division. This division participated in the invasion of Belgium and France. It also participated in the invasion of Russia and fought in areas like Moskau, Donbogen and Stalingrad were it was destroyed in early 1943. A new division was formed in Denmark and was now put into action in Italy.
the 'AB' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
A Genesendenkompanie served for those who were discharged from the military hospital and fit for garrison service and were reintroduced to training. Until they were fit for military service again.
