Death notice card of Obergefreiter Wolfgang Apfelbacher who died in Denmark.
The notice shows overall normal signs of wear. According the notice Wolfgang died on the 25 April 1944 whilst laying in a Lazarett in Aalborg, Denmark.
Wolfgang got training in Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 85 and after training became a soldier within the Infanterie Regiment 85. This regiment became Gebirgsjäger Regiment 85 in October 1940 and was part of the 5.Gebirgs-Division. This division and her units fought in Greece in April 1941 and then Crete.
Wolfgang must have switched units as the additinal information card says that his last served unit was the Genesenden-Bataillon D XVIII.
According to the notice Wolfgang earned the Eisernes Kreuz 2.Klasse, Verwundetenabzeichen and the Kreta Cufftitle.
