Very nice and harder to find zinc Gebirgsjäger erkennungsmarke in used, but excellent condition.
The tag shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the 13.Kompanie Gebirgsjäger Ersatz Regiment 138. This regiment was formed in February 1940 in Graz. The regiment formed the staff for the ersatz battalions of the 3.Gebirgs-Division. Part of the regiment was put into action during the Balkanfeldzug in April 1940.
In November 1943 the regiment, by then named Gebirgsjäger-Ersatz- und Ausbildungs-Regiment 138, moved to Tolmezzo, Italy. Not much later it was renamed into Reserve-Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 138 as part of the 188.Reserve-Gebirgs-Division. It still operated in Northern Italy.
In March 1945 the division became the 188.Gebirgs-Division and Reserve-Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 138 was used to form Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 903.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
Hard to find tag.
