Very nice and quite unique Gebirgsjäger Officer Model 36 field blouse or 'Modell 36 Feldbluse' of a much sought after regiment.
This beautiful Gebirgsjäger Officers Feldbluse began its life as an enlisted (rank) tunic and has been carefully tailor modified to reflect its officer status and to meet all the requirements specified by the owner.
On the outside the owner had the tailor replace the collar by a slightly larger one with a more 'pointed' shape and had the 'ärmelschlitz' on the rear edge of the cuffs removed. All the insignia is present and tailor applied. It comes with two silver wire embroidered collar tabs, a silver bullion officers breast eagle, shoulder-straps with the rank of first lieutnant or 'Oberleutnant' and an exceptional officer's edelweiss sleeve badge in silver- and gold-coloured bullion. Furthermore, all of the buttons are present, it has an EK2 Ribbon attached to the second button and 1 set of loops for a medal on the left breast pocket.
The inside of the tunic has quite extensive modifications. The full lining has been replaced with a grey cotton half-lining and the holes for the belt support hooks have been skillfully patched. Additionally, various spare pieces of field-grey fabric have been used for alterations.
The officer to whom this uniform belonged to served within the 'Gebirgsjäger Regiment 100' (hence the gilt-washed '100' numerals on the shoulder-straps). This regiment was formed in '1935'. It fell under the command of the '1. Gebirgs Division' from 9 april 1938 and from 3 November 1940 it fell under the '5. Gebirgs Division'. The Regiment has a very rich history (fought in a lot of countries) and related objects/items are highly sought after by collectors. Besides that, this Feldbluse is published in the book ‘The German Army, Mountain Soldier of World War II’ (Juli 2009), by 'W.Krawczyk & B.Jansen', page 30-31.
