Very nice zinc Wehrmacht Füsilier related tag in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in a company of Fülsilier Ersatz Bataillon 27. This unit was formed in August 1939 as Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 27. It trained and supplied soldiers for Infanterie Regiment 27 (later Füsilier Regiment 27) which was part of the 12.Infanterie-Division. This division saw its first action during the Invasion of Poland and then France, via Luxembourg. After France it participated in the invasion of Russia and operated in areas like Demjasnk, Witebsk and Grodno.
In November 1942 the ersatz bataillon was renamed into Grenadier Ersatz Bataillon and in February 1943 into Füsilier Ersatz Bataillon 27.
A Füsilier related/marked tag is harder to come by.
