The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served at the Fliegerhorst Kommandantur Köln-Butzweilerhof . This was the HQ of the Fliegerhorst Köln-Butzweilrehof.
The militay airflied was also used during World War 1. In the Third Reich period it was the home for different units such as Jagdgeschwader 234, Sturzkampfgeschwader 77, Lehrgeschwader 2, Kampfgeschwader 1 and more.
On the back the tag is stamped 'A.O.9/VI' which is how the unit was calld between April 1944 and März 1945, 'Fl. H. Kdtr. A (o) 9/VI'.
