The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served a the Fliegerhorst Einsatzhafen Lippspringe. This airfield was build in the late 30's and was the home base from I.Gruppe Kampfgeschwader 54. In the years 1941 and 1942 the airfield was relatively inactive, but that changed in 1943. It became the base for different unit throughout the war such as Zerstörergeschwader 1, Zerstörergeschwader 26 'Horst Wessel', Jagdgeschwader 53, Jagdgeschwader 4 and more.
