The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in Flieger Ersatz Abteilung 16 (SEE). This unit was formed in August 1935 in Schleswig as Flieger Ersatz Abteilung 6. In October that same year it became Abteilung 16. It trained and supplied soldiers for different units.
The (SEE) refers to Seefliegerhorst Schleswig. The unit was based here.
