Very nice aluminium Flieger Ausbildungs Bataillon 16 erkennungsmarke in used, but good condition.
The tag shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier that served a Kompanie of Flieger Ausbildungs Bataillon 16. This bataillon was formed in August 1935 in Schleswig as Flieger-Ersatz-Abteilung 6. In April 1939 it became Flieger-Ausbildungs-Bataillon 16. In Januari 1942 the bataillon was renamed into Flieger Ausbildungs Bataillon 16. and in April it became Flieger Regiment 16. In October 1942 the regiment was used to form Luftwaffen-Feld-Division 5.
The Division saw combat in the Crimea area in late 1942 and in the year 1943 it saw combat in the Caucasus, Kuban and Melitopol. In Mai 1944 the Division was disbanned due to heavy losses. Remnants of the division where absorbed by different Infanterie-Divisions (304,320,335)
