All 4 documents show overall normal signs of use, but all are solid and there are no big damages. The grouping belonged to a soldier named Josef Lorenz who served within the Austrian army in Oberösterreichischen Alpenjäger-Regiment 8 “KaiserinMaria Theresia” as an Alpenjager. When the Austrian army was absorbed within the Wehrmacht in the spring of 1938 Josef switched to the 5.Batterie Flak-Abteilung Steyr on the 9th of June 1938. This later became Flak Regiment 38. According to one of the documents (Fuhrungszeugnis) Josef only served until the 10th of November with this unit and was then discharged.
The grouping consist out;

  • Fuhrungszeugnis which tells that he served and conducted himself very well during his time of service.
  • 1.Oktober 1938 award document.
  • Certificate of discharge. The documents tell us that Josef had 3 fingers amputated from his right hand.
  • Document from the Austrian Federal Ministry which shows Josef's service time within the Austrian army before it was absorbed within the Wehrmacht. Dated 9 September 1965.
