The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the Fernsprech Betriebskompanie I.Abteilung Armee Nachrichten Regiment 570. This regiment was formed in early 1939 in München. In late August 1939 the regiment became part of Heeresgruppe Süd and participated in the invasion of Poland. In October of that year it switched and became part of Heeresgruppe A and was renamed into Heeresgruppe Nachrichten Regiment 570. It participated in the invasion of France in Mai 1940.
In April 1941 it moved to the east and participated in the invasion of Russia which started in June 1941. Regiment was part of Heeresgruppe Süd and later Heeresgruppe B. In the last year of the war it was operational under the command of the 8.Armee.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
