The overall condition of the dogtag is good. The number 210593 tell us the soldier served in the 3.Kompanie Fallschirm-Pionier-Ersatz und Ausbildungs Bataillon 1. This unit was formed from the 13./Pionier Kompanie Fallschirmjager Ersatz Bataillon Tangermünde in Devise, France in April 1944. In the summer of 1944 the Battalion was involved in anti-Partisan duties in Moulins, Nevers and Anten, France and in October of that year 1 company moved to Uetersen, Germany. The rest of the Bataillon stayed in France in the city of Nancy and fought along side the 553.Volksgrenadier-Division.
In March 1945 the bataillon fought different battles in Holland. It fought in the Rees Bridgehead, Twente-Canal line, Enter, Delden, Apeldoorn, Hengelo and Enschede.
At the end it had suffered heavy losses and the remnants of the bataillon was used to form Fallschirm Pionier Regiment 20 which was part of the 20. Fallschirmjäger-Division.
