The helmet shows overall normal signs of wear. It has a beautiful thick layer of paint which was period applied with a brush. It once had an SS decal on the right side. If you hold the helmet in good light, you can see a bit of the outline of the decal and some white (spots) residue (very difficult to photograph). The helmet is complete with its original liner and the 3 liner rivets are in place and not messed with. The leather of the liner is supple, named and size marked '55'. The shell is marked with serial number 'T1201' in the neck and with 'Q62' on the side, which means it was produced by 'F.W. Quist G.m.b.H.' from 'Esslingen', size '62' .
The wellknown helmet lotnumber database (please see added photo) confirms it was a single decal Waffen-SS hemet before the paint was applied because an exact same sized helmet with the same lotnumber in that list is also a single decal SS helmet withs steel liner and tan colored leather liner.
