The document shows overall signs of wear. The medal was awarded to Kanonier Rudolf Wilbränder who served within the 2.Schallmess-batterie Beobachtungs Abteilung 28. It was awarded on the 1st of March 1938. This abteilung was formed in October 1935 and was part of the 28.Infanterie-Division. It participated in the invasion of Belgium and France. After France it saw combat on the Russian front and fought in areas like Moskau and Smolensk. The abteilung was destroyed in the Stalingrad area in January 1943.
