The overall condition of all documents is good. They show normal signs of wear. The documents were awarded to (Ober)leutnant Hermann Krauss who served in the Artillerie Regiment 297. This regiment was part of the 297.Infanterie-Division and started the war in Poland. After that it moved to Cholm, Kiew and Charkow. In 1942/1943 it participated in the siege of Stalingrad and was destroyed. It was rebuild in may 1943 in France and was then moved to Serbien, Albanien and Kroatien where it surrendered in 1945. On September 1942 Hermann was awarded the Ostmedaille. The document is signed by Generalleutant Friedrich-Wilhelm Deutsch. The Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2.Klasse was awarded on the 1st of September 1944 and is signed by Generalleutnant albrecht Baier.
