The Eisernes Kreuz 2.Klasse was awarded on the 18th of August 1942 to Obergefreiten Walter Specht who served in the 9th Kompanie of Artillerie Regiment 183. This regiment was part of the 83.Infanterie-Division and started the war in France in 1940. Late 1941 it moved to the eastern front and fought in areas like Welish, Newel and Ostrow. In the summer of 1944 it moved to Lettland (Kurland).
