The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged of a soldier who was draften/served in a batterie of Artillerie Ersatz und Ausbildungs Abteilung 31. This unit was formed in late August 1939 in Halbertstadt. It trained and supplied soldiers for Artillerie Abteilung 756 and Artillerie Regiment 31, 265, 272, 352 and 1352. The uncommon thing is, is that there is no documention of an Ersatz und Ausbildungs Abteilung, but only of an Ersatz Abteilung.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
