Very nice dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' in used, but excellent condition.
The tag shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 9.Kompanie III.Bataillon Infanterie Regiment 220. This bataillon was formed in August 1939 in Rendsburg and was part of the 58.Infanterie-Division. The regiment saw its first action during the invasion of France in May 1940.
In December 1940 the III.Bataillon (9-12.Kompanie) was used to form Infanterie Regiment 585 which was part of the 320.Infanterie-Division. The division and her units stayed in France (Dunkirk, Contentin) until December 1942 and in Januari 1943 it moved to Russia. It fought in areas like Charkow, Belgorod Kirowograd and Kischinew.
The 'III' on the tag stands for the III.Bataillon which is not that common to see on a tag.
The 'B' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
