Very nice aluminium Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 9.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 181. This regiment was formed in August 1939 and was part of the 52.Infanterie-Division. This division saw its first combat during the invasion of France by fighting its way throught Luxembourg and Belgium.
The III.Bataillon (9.-12.Kompanie) of the regiment was used to form Infanterie Regiment 693 in November 1940. This regiment was part of the 339.Infanterie-Division. Straight after a new III.Bataillon was formed which was disbanned again in March 1941.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
