The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was draften in the 9.Batterie SS-Artillerie Ausbildungs und Ersatz Regiment. This unit was formed in late August 1939 as SS-Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung and in Mai 1943 it was renamed into SS-Artillerie Ausbildungs und Ersatz Regiment and moved to Prague. It trained and supplied soldiers for different SS-Artillerie units.
The tag is also stamped on the back, on each part, with 'Waffen-SS'.
