Both documents show overall signs of wear. The ISA document has a tear in the middle. They where award to Robert Ross who served in the 8.M.G.Kompanie/Infanterie Regiment 168. This regiment was formed in August 1939 and was equipped with captured Czech material. The regiment was part of the 82.Infanterie-Division. The division saw its first combat during the invasion of France. From March 1941 till June 1942 the division and her units where deployed in Holland as an occupation force. In June 1942 it was send to fight on the eastern front. It fought in areas like Kursk, Woronesch, Kiew and Tscherkassy.
