The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the '8.Batterie Artillerie Regiment 267'. The 8th Batterie was in the III Abteilung. This regiment was formed in August 1939 and was part of the 267.Infanterie-Division.
The division saw its first action on the 10th of May 1940 during the invasion of Belgium and pushed through France to the Channel coast. Here it stayed untill May 1941 and was then moved to Poland to prepare for Operation Barbarossa on 22nd June 1941. It fought in areas like Bialystock, Moskau, Gshatsk,Brjansk and Mogilew.
