Very nice Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 8.kompanie Infanterie Regiment 251. This regiment was formed in December 1939 and was part of the 84.Infanterie-Division. With this division it participated in the invasion of France that took place in May 1940. From August 1940 until February 1941 the division and her units were on leave. Back as an active division it operated as a coastal defence division on the French coast until it moved to the east in late 1941. In Russia it operated in areas like Welish, Newel, Newel and Ostrow. In the last stages of the war it operated in Lettland and Kurland.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
