Very nice Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 8.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 203. This unit was formed in late August 1939 and was part of the 76.Infanterie-Division. It saw its combat during the invasion of Luxembourg and then France. In March 1941 the division and her units moved to Rumania and from July 1941 on it participated in the invasion of Russia. It fought in areas like Jassy, Donbogen and Stalingrad were it got destroyed in February 1943.
A new Grenadier Regiment 203 was formed in Bretagne, France in March 1943.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
On the front AND the back the soldier carved in his pownumber '564294'.
