Very nice field made or 'Selbstfertigung' tag in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. What makes this tag special is that it belonged to a Volunteer, hence 'Frw.' which stands for Freiwillige, who served in the 8.Kompanie Grenadier Regiment 1093.
This regiment was formed in Lithuania in July 1944 and was part of the newly formed 547.Grenadier-Division. In October the division was renamed into the 547.Volks-Grenadier-Division. In November 1944 the division and her units moved and put into action in Ostpreußen where it was destroyed in the area of Zinten in February 1945.
The Freiwillige was probably a prisoner of war who choose to fight with the Germans.
