The document shows normal signs of wear. The Assault Badge was awarded on 12 Augustus 1941 to Waldemar who served in the 7.Batterie Artillerie Regiment 34. This bataillon was formed in October 1936 and was part of the 34.Infanterie-Division. It saw its first combat during the invasion of France (via Luxembourg). It stayed in France until the end of May 1941 and was then transported to Poland to prepare for the invasion of Russia. It fought in areas like Gomel, Wiasma, Juchnow, Tscherkassy and Uman. In April 1944 it moved back to Germany to rest and rebuild. In July 1944 it was sent to Italy. Here it fought in areas like Genua, Nizza and Ligurien. It surrenderred to the American forces in April 1945.
The document is signed by Generalleutnant Hans Behlendorff. Wearer of the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes since October 1941.
