Nice aluminium 7.Batterie II.Abteilung Flak Regiment 26 mot.Gl. dog tag in used, but fine condition.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 7.Batterie II.Abteilung Flak Regiment 26 mot.Gl. The abteilung of this regiment was formed in 1936 in Dessau-Kochstedt. 2 Years later in November 1938 is was disbanned and immediately formed again from the I.Abteilung Flak Regiment 62. It had 5 batteries. In early 1940 it was stationed in West Germany as part of the II.Flakkorps. It participated in the invasion of France and in August 1940 it was stationed in Calais for preparations for the invasion of England. In June 1941 the II.Flakkorps and her units participated in the invasion of Russia as supporting Panzergruppe 4 in central Russia. It fought in Russia untill around mid 1944. In the July the II.Abteilung became part of the 3.Flak-Brigade and fought in the North of Italy. In September the abteilung became part of the 22.Flak-Brigade. In May 1945 it surrendered in Italy. The 'mot Gl' stands for 'motorisiert geländegängig' which means all-terrain motorized (fully tracked or half track vehicle).
The 'AB' on both parts of the tag stands for the bloodtype.
Interesting unit/dog tag.
