Very nice aluminium Wehrmachr Infanterie related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 7.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 186. This regiment was formed in late August 1939 in Coburg and was part of the 73.Infanterie-Division. It saw it's first combat during the invasion of France that took place in May 1940. After France it participated in the 'Balkanfeldzug' and operated in Rumania, Greece and Yugoslavia. In June 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russia and operated in areas like the Krim, Mius and Melitopol. In October 1942 the regiment was renamed into Grenadier Regiment 186.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
