Very nice aluminium Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 7.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 184. This regiment was formed in August 1939 and was part of the 86.Infanterie-Division. In MAy 1940 it participated in the invasion of France by crossing the border of Luxemburg. During the campaign it sufferred heavy losses in personel.
In June 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russia and fought in areas like Smolensk, Wjasma, Rshew, Orel and Gomel. In October 1942 the regiment was renamd into Grenadier Regiment 184. In late 1944 the regiment was part of the 251.Infanterie-Division.In April 1945 only a handful of soldiers of Regiment 184 survived and were transported to the area of Berlin to fight a long side Friedrich Ludwig Jahn's RAD division.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
