The document shows overall signs of wear, but is solid. The Assault Badge was awarded on 21 Mai 1942 to Gottfried who served in the 6 Batterie Fliegerabwehr Bataillon 52. This bataillon was formed in October 1939 from the MG-Bataillon 52. Each company was equipped with 12 2-cm Flak30 guns. During the Westfeldzug the 6th companie had 5 confirmed kills and 6 not confirmed. In April 1942 the 6th company was listed in Infanterie-Regiment 66 as the 10th company. This regiment was part of the 13.Panzer-Division and saw combat in Russia in areas like Mius, Kuban, Kriwoi Rog and Tscherkassy.
The document is signed by General der Kavallerie Philipp Kleffel, wearer of the Ritterkeuzes des Eisernen Kreuzes.
