The overall condition of the dogtag is good. The number 253260 tell us the soldier served in the 6.Kompanie Fallschirmjäger Regiment 2. This regiment was formed in 1939 and unit of this regiment saw its first combat during the invasion of Poland. After the Poland campaign the regiment was used during the invasion of Holland. Here the 6 kompanie was dropped near Katwijk.
In April 1941 the units where dropped in Greece where they fought against the Commonwealth Troops and after that the regiment jumped and fought in Kreta.
In late 1941 the regiment was put into action together with Panzerjäger and MG.bataillon to fight on the Russian front in the Stalino-Mius area. In April 1942 these unit moved to the Leningrad areas to defend it against Russian counter attacks. In the summer of 1942 the regiment was pulled back from the front and moved to Normandy to rest and strengthen a bit, but the I.Bataillon was called again to support Erwin Rommel in the battle for El Alamein.
In 1943 parts of the regiment fought in Italy. And after that the where send back to the eastern front.
In May 1944 they where stationed in Normandy and they participated during the Normandy campaign together with FJ.Regiment 7 in the Brest area.
In October 1944 the regiment was rebuild again in 'Raum Oldenburg' (Holland). In December of that year the regiment was moved to 'Raum Hilversum-Amersfoort'. In Januari 1945 the regiment moved to the Reichswald where it was put into action against the British fighting force. The months after that they fought multiple battles on German soil only to be captured in April 1945.
