The dog tag shows overall signs of wear. The number 62571 tells us that the soldier served with the 6.Kompanie of Fallschirmjäger-Ergänzungs-Regiment 1. Formed in early 1942 it was later that year renamed in Fallschirmjäger-Ausbildungs-Regiment 1. In 1943 it moved to France and in 1944 it was renamed in Fallschirm-Jäger-Ersatz- und Ausbildungs-Regiment 1. After the Allied invasion in Normandy is was moved and demobilized. In Januari 1945 it was reformed again to participate in the defence of Berlin at the Berlin/Tempelhof area. In April 1945 parts of the regiment were used to form fell 20.Fallschirm-Jäger-Division which was moved to Assen, Holland.
On the back of the EKM a number 'A.973156' has been punched in. This is probably a POW number?
