Both documents show overall signs of wear. The promotion letter says that Wachtmeister Willy was promoted to Leutnant on the 1st of March 1941. At that time he served in the Infanterie-Divisions-Nachschubtruppen 182. On the 20 of April 1942 he earned the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2.Klasse. Willy was now a Leutnant in the 6.Fahrkolonne 196 which was part of the 96.Infanterie-Division. Since 1942 the division fought in the area of Wolchow and Newa. Since 1944 in the areas like Tarnopol, Lemberg, Beskiden, Ungarn and Wien.
The document is signed by Generalleutnant Joachim Freiherr von Schleinitz.
The A4 size promotion letter is a bit more worn and has a tear on top in the middle.
