Nice worn dog tag from a soldier who served in the 6.Batterie II.Abteilung Flak Regiment 24.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. The abteilung was formed in October 1936 in Menden and consisted of the 6-10 batteries. In the year 1939 it was stationed in the Westwall area and in 1940 it participated in the invasion of France, supporting the 1.Armee.
In August of that year it was stationed in Oostende, Belgium coast, where it stayed untill April 1941. It then moved to the Balkans and supported the XXXX.Armeekorps. In June it participated in Operation Barbarossa in South Russia. The years that followed it saw combat in the Isjum area, Caucasus, Jassy and in 1945 in Wien where it surrendered.
