Nice aluminium Wehrmacht artillerie related tag in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 6.batterie Artillerie Regiment 225. This regiment was formed in August 1939 and was part of the 225.Infanterie-Division. In May 1940 it crossed the Dutch/German border and fought its way to Tilburg were it arrived on the 14th of May 1940 and two days later it arrived in Roosendaal. Here it prepaired for the attack on Antwerp. After the defeat of the Belgium army the regiment became an occupation force on the Belgium coastline.
In December 1941 the division and her regiments were send east to fight in Russia. The II.Abteilung (4.-6.batterie) of the regiment became part of the 269.Infanterie-Division and was put into action in th Leningrad and Ladoga-See area.
In March 1942 the II.Abteilung became part of the 96.Infanterie-Division and saw action in the Wolchow and Newa area. In Mai 1942 the II.Abteilung was reunited again with the other abteilung of the regiment and became again part of the 225.Infanterie-Division. It was put into action in the Oranienbaum/Leningrad area. According to reports the The munitions stock of the regiment was poor and the 6.batterie, a long with the 4th and 7th, had to give away one of their artillery pieces to Artillerie Regiment 212.
From December 1942 on the regiment saw action in Demjansk and later in Wolchow and again in Leningrad.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
