The overall condition of the document is very good. The Verwundetenabzeichen was awarded on 28th June 1944 to Peter who served in 5.Kompanie Grenadier Regiment 521. Formed in Februari 1940 and was part of the 296.Infanterie-Division. It saw its first combat during the invasion of France (Dunkirk) and was moved the to east in early 1941 to prepare for the invasion of Russia. It fought a lot of battles in areas like Brody, Shitomir, Kiew, Brjansk, Orel and Bobriusk.
