The document shows overall signs of wear. The Infanterie Sturmabzeichen was awarded on 30 Aug. 1944. Friedrich served in the 5.Kompanie Grenadier Regiment 503. This regiment was formed in Februari 1940 from different regiments as Infanterie Regiment 503 and was part of the 290.Infanterie-Division. With this division the regiment saw combat during the Westfeldzug, invasion of France. In June 1941 it participated in Operation Barbarossa. It fought in areas like Ilmensee, Demjansk, Ladogasee, Newel and Lettland. In Autumn 1944 the regiment was disbanned. The document is signed by the Oberstleutnant Regiments-Führer.
