Nice worn dog tag from a soldier who served in the 5.Batterie Reserve Flak Abteilung 406 erkennungsmarke.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in a 5.Batterie Reserve Flak Abteilung 406'. This abteilung was formed in August 1939 in Osnabruck with 5 batteries (1-4 Schwere, 5 Scheinwerfer). In July 1942 it became known as Schwere Flak Abteilung 406.
In 1941 the abteilung was stationed in Bielefeld and from 1943 until the end of the war it was stationed in Halle-Leuna as part of Flakuntergruppe Leuna-Mitte.
However, in October 1942 the 5.batterie (Scheinwerfer) became the 4.Batterie of Flakscheinwerfer-Abteilung 128 and was stationed in Berlin until the end of the war.
The 'A' that is carved in by the soldier on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
