Very nice zinc Wehrmacht Gebirgsjager related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in or was drafted in the 5.Schwere kompanie Gebirgsjäger Ersatz Bataillon 100. This bataillon was formed in late August 1939 in Bad Reichenhall, Austria. The bataillon trained and supplied soldiers for the Staff of the 97.leichte Infanterie-Division, Infanterie Regiment 204 and 207 (part of 97.leichte Inf.-Div.) and of course the famous Gebirgsjäger Regiment 100 !
The 'A' on the back of both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
