The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the '5.Flughafen-Betriebs-Kompanie (Kampfgeschwader) 26'. A Betriebs kompanie is a unit that repairs and services planes and is attached to a Kampf/Jagdgeschwader.
This Betriebs-Kompanie 26 was part of the Kampfgeschwader 'Löwen' 26 which was formed in May 1939 from Kampfgeschwader 257. When you look at the tag we can see a number '5' peeking through the '6' and the number '7' still can be seen through the star stamp.
