The dog tag shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in 4.Kompanie M.G. Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 73. The bataillon was formed in August 1939 in Hannover and trained soldiers for the 19.Infanterie-Division. This division saw its first combat during the invasion of Poland in 1939 1940 before invading France. In November 1940 the division was renamed in 19.Panzer-Division. Ersatz Bataillon 73 still supplied soldiers for the division. The division saw combat on the eastern front in areas like Minsk, Smolensk, Newel, Jelnja, Orel, Kiew, Warschau and Mähren.
The dog tag is broken, but complete and solid.
