The document shows overall signs of wear. Mainly on the edges. Folded but its solid. The Infanterie Sturmabzeichen was awarded on 30 June 1942. Wilhelm served in the 4.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 194. This regiment was formed in August 1939 from different regiments and was part of the 71.Infanterie-Division. With this division the regiment saw combat during the Westfeldzug, invasion of France via Belgium. In June 1941 it participated in Operation Barbarossa. It fought in areas like Przemysl, Kiew, Charkow, Donbogen and Stalingrad. The division and her unit where destroyed during the Stalingrad battle. It was rebuild in Februari 1943 from 2 grenadier regiments in Denmark. It was put into action in Italy. The document is signed by the Oberst Regiments-Führer.
