This regiment was formed in August 1939 as Infanterie Regiment 208. It was part of the 79.Infanterie-Division. The regiment saw its first combat during the invasion of France in May 1940. In June 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russia. It fought in areas like Kiew, Charkow,Stariza,Stalingrad,Stalino,Kuban and Nikopol. The division was destroyed in 1944 in Raum Jassy. In October 1944 the division was rebuild and became the 79.Volks-Grenadier-Division. This division participated in the Ardennes offensive in the area of Vianden, Luxembourg and later also in Bourscheid. The document is signed by General der Infanterie Viktor von Schwedler.
