Nice Fallschirmjäger erkennungsmarke in used, but good condition.
Very nice Fallschirmjäger dogtag in good condition that belonged to a soldier that served in 4.(Schw.)Kompanie Fallschirmjäger Aufklarungs Abteilung 12. The abteilung fell under the command of the II.Fallschirm-Korps and was formed in January 1944. On paper the 4rd company, a Schwere (heavy) Kompanie, of the abteilung should have been equipped with 9x PaK40, 4x Flak 38, 2x s.IG and several s.MGs. but by May 1944 it had just 4x Flak 38 and several MGs. During the Normandy invasion the unit saw heavy combat in the St.Lo area and later in the Falaise pocket where it got surrounded, but was rescued by the II.SS-Panzer-Korps. It was then moved to Kleve (Germany) to strengthen and saw combat again during Operation Market Garden in the Groesbeek area.
The erkennungsmarke is made out of edelstahl.
Very interesting dogtag.
