The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the '4.Batterie Reserve Flak Abteilung 903'. This unit was formed in August 1939 in Fürth with 5 batteries, 1-3 Schwere (8,8cm or 10,5cm) and 4-5 Leichte (2cm 3,7cm or 5cm). In the summer of 1942 the entire abteilung became Schwere Flak Abteilung 903. In April 1943 the 4.Batterie was used to form the 4.Batterie Leichte Flak Abteilung 980. It was stationed in Mainz in November 1943. In the first 5 months of 1944 it was stationed in Mannheim and in June 1944 the 4.Batterie was stationed in Granville, France.
